PREMIER DIVISION REVIEWS

Saturday Premier Division

Modbury Jets AFC 12 v MA Hawks 0

Modbury Jets AFC’s late surge towards the title took another massive step as they dispatched of MA Hawks 12-0. The resounding win is another painful reminder for MA Hawks that this just hasn’t been their year. Jets in the space of two weeks, have turned a three-point and four-goal disadvantage to Old Ignatians into being three points ahead, with a plus-ten goal-difference. It has been a remarkable turn around from Paul Simpson’s side, and it was the usual suspects among the goal scorers this weekend. Mustafa Ipekdal was prominent, scoring four goals. Declan Williams takes himself to second place in the Premier Division Golden Boot, as he also scored four. Joel Gray helped himself to as brace, whilst Scott Weidenbach and Robert Williams also contributed. Modbury Jets’ quest to back-to-back silverware continues this weekend as they prepare to face USC Lion who are also finding some form late in the season.

Sturt Marion 0 v Adelaide Titans 3

Two successive losses for Sturt have seen them drop down to eighth place on the table, a far cry from where they were a matter of weeks ago. Titans were impressive yet again, they’ve shown their attacking prowess week after week. All three goals came from one man, as young-gun Ari Karapetsas secured a second-half hat-trick. This all but guarantees that Titans hold onto third spot, whereas Sturt will be confident they can distance themselves from the bottom-two spots with a win over MA Hawks.

Adelaide Red Blue Eagles 2 v Pitbulls 0

ARBE stifled a poor run of form and have put themselves in a great position to avoid relegation, whereas their opponents Pitbulls have it all to do with two games remaining. This massive home win sends the Red Blue Eagles into sixth, and with a five-point differential over St Peters, they’re one result away from safety. Joseph Impedovo got things up and running in the 29th and was complimented by Sam Abadia in the 56th. ARBE will be looking to guarantee their return to the Premier Division next year as they prepare to take on St Peters. Pitbulls comparatively, have work to do as their next two fixtures are Old Iggies and Modbury Jets.

BOSA 3 v St Peters 1

BOSA have got their tales up as they make it three wins form their last three, all but guaranteeing their safety. A month is a long time in football, and BOSA have managed to completely shift the narrative of their season in a short space of time, they will undoubtedly already have their minds on potential success next season. Mathew Kemp has kept faith in his side, and it has paid dividends. He himself scored a brace on the weekend, showing his boys how its done. His goals were complimented by a goal from the captain, George Vatsilas in the 38th minute. BOSA’s form will truly be put to the test this weekend as they prepare to face the high-flying Adelaide Titans. St Peters themselves have a must-win game against Adelaide Red Blue Eagles.

Sunday Premier Division

Ghan Kilburn 5 v Brahma Lodge 1

The Ghan are coming home ever-so-strong, as they now sit in third after their 5-1 trouncing of Brahma Lodge. Ahmad Mosawee Nejad got his side off the mark in the fifth minute. Ghan’s talisman, Asad Abassi was on target again, scoring two goals. Brima Kamara also secured a brace, with goals coming in the 37th and 70th – he’s up to eight for the year. Ghan’s attention turns to Ingle Farm, another team fighting for their lives. Brahma must dust themselves off as they prepare to face Para Hills East.

Para Hills West 1 v Ingle Farm 1

Para Hills West managed to salvage a point in the dying moments of their battle with Ingle Farm, as Jarod Ebert equalized in the 93rd minute – breaking Ingle Farm hearts as a win would’ve put them three points ahead of Brahma. Ingle Farm’s goal came from Filipou in the 78th and despite the disappointment of the final score, it could still ultimately be a massive point for Ingle Farm. Para Hills West have a challenging fixture ahead as they take on Parafield Gardens, Ingle Farm will have to be at their best as they prepare to upset Ghan Kilburn.

Para Hills East 2 v Salisbury Inter 3

Another disappointing result for Para Hills East as they were beaten 3-2 by a gallant Salisbury Inter outfit. With so much to play for, Inter stated their intent early on and were on the scoresheet as early as the 14th minute through Leigh Collins. Mather continued the momentum with a goal of his own in the 35th, putting Inter into a commanding position. Easties showed some fight-back in the second half but were ultimately stopped in their tracks by another goal from Collins in the 78th, his fifth of the season. A massive day for Salisbury Inter, a huge step towards safety. They will be looking to back it up this weekend as they take on Elizabeth Downs, who themselves are looking to clinch the title.

WA Raptors 0 v Parafield Gardens 4

West Adelaide Raptors were outclassed by Parafield Gardens, who are still trying to keep their title hopes alive. The captain Daniel Roadley got the away side off to the perfect start with his goal in the 25th. Three second half goals from O’Neill, O’Donnell and Coyne put the game well beyond Raptors, keeping them rooted to the bottom of the league. Raptors cannot afford to lose another game and have it all to do as they prepare to pull of an upset win against the Gully – giving themselves a fighting chance. The Gardens are still mathematically in the title hunt, so it’s a simple matter of winning every game and seeing what happens.
