PREMIER DIVISION PREVIEWS

Saturday:

BOSA v St Peters

Given the nature of the ladder, every single game is a final for these two sides. BOSA are brimming with confidence after two vital wins over USC Lion and then last week’s potentially season-defining win over Pitbulls. BOSA are currently sitting in fourth place but will be well-aware that they are not out of the woods yet. St Peters’ sentiment will be the same, they’re coming off a massive win over Sturt, but still find themselves in ninth. The away side will be looking to make it 2/2 and lift themselves into safety.

Prediction: 2-1 BOSA

Modbury Jets AFC v MA Hawks

Modbury Jets were gallant in their massive 2-1 win over Old Ignatians in last week’s Match of the Round. This result gives the Jets a fighting chance, as they are now level on points with their rivals – but behind by three goals. This rampant Jets attack has been a joy to watch all year and have looked unstoppable at times. The Jets will be hoping to fire early and start to turn this goal-differential in their favour.

Prediction: 5-0 Modbury

Sturt Marion v Adelaide Titans

Sturt suddenly have found themselves in a precarious spot, with last week’s loss - they now sit in sixth, just a point above the relegation zone. Sturt’s predicament speaks to the hotly contested nature of the league, as only a few weeks ago they were absolutely flying in the top half of the table. Their opponents, Adelaide Titans, have looked unbeatable in recent weeks, and they will be looking to keep pressure on the top two.

Prediction: 2-1 Titans

Adelaide Red Blue Eagles v Pitbulls

After a tough few weeks, Adelaide Red Blue Eagles must find form again if they are to curb this downward trend they are currently on. They were fourth only three rounds ago but have not managed to add to their point tally since. Pitbulls are also experiencing a dip in form and were unable to get past a nine-man BOSA outfit in last week’s match. It is simply a must-win for both sides, with the winner being taking one big step towards safety.

Prediction: 3-1 Pitbulls

Sunday:

Ghan Kilburn v Brahma Lodge

After a couple of hard-fought wins against strong opposition, The Ghan have climbed back up the table and now find themselves in fourth. Their opponents Brahma Lodge, are playing for their lives, coming off a massive win themselves against Ingle Farm. Brahma’s win last week lifted them outside of the relegation zone, but they will know that the challenge only gets tougher against The Ghan. The home side know that if Tea Tree Gully are beaten by Downs, that a win here against Brahma could potentially send them up to third place.

Prediction: 2-0 Ghan Kilburn.

WA Raptors v Parafield Gardens

West Adelaide Raptors’ task of staying in the division becomes more difficult as they prepare to face a Parafield Gardens outfit that will have a point to prove, after last week’s disappointing loss to Downs. A loss here for Raptors could be catastrophic, as they get no reprieve with next week’s opponents, Tea Tree Gully. Gardens will know that there can be no mistakes from here on out. If they are to still win this title, it all starts with a convincing win this weekend.

Prediction: 3-0 Parafield Gardens

Para Hills West v Ingle Farm

After a string of positive results, Para Hills West now find themselves just four points off their local rivals, Para Hills East. Westies have all but guaranteed themselves safety, so for the rest of the year they can focus on possibly climbing the ladder where possible and laying the foundations for next year. Ingle Farm will be bitterly disappointed with their last-minute lost to Brahma but should be encouraged from their results in previous weeks. This is a must win game for Ingle Farm, with the threat of relegation looming.

Prediction: 2-1 Para Hills West

Para Hills East v Salisbury Inter

Para Hills East are coming off a disappointing showing against Tea Tree Gully, where they were beaten 5-2 away from home. It was the second league-game in succession where a red card has complicated proceedings for them, and they’ll need to keep their heads against an Inter side who are fighting to stay in the division. Salisbury Inter narrowly lost out to fourth-placed Ghan Kilburn, so they will have belief that they can get an upset here against Easties and take themselves out of ninth place.

Prediction: 2-0 Para Hills East
